Chun Yang International Shares EV Battery Processing Plant Progress and Explores Joint Initiatives with MTA

On 18 March 2025, Chun Yang International (HK) Company Limited and The Motor Trades Association of Hong Kong (“MTA”) jointly organised an industry exchange event in Wan Chai, Hong Kong . Chun Yang International presented the construction progress and future plans for the upcoming “Hong Kong’s First EV Battery Processing Plant” to MTA members. Both parties engaged in discussions on processing technology, operational models, and collaborative pathways.
The Motor Trades Association of Hong Kong was established in 1958. Its members include franchised motor vehicle dealers and distributors for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, special purpose vehicles and taxi, encompassing renowned automotive brands such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, BYD, and Hyundai.
The Hong Kong’s First EV Battery Processing Plant, which commenced construction in June 2024, is designed to deliver efficient and eco-friendly lithium battery recycling and disposal solutions for the local and Greater Bay Area electric vehicle market and aims to become a benchmark facility in Hong Kong’s environmental sector. Mr. Jason Yip, the Deputy General Manager of Chun Yang International, introduced that the foundational work of the Plant had been completed successfully in December 2024. Currently, 70% of the main building construction is already finished. For the next step, the factory section is scheduled to commence operations in May 2025, incorporating steel structure designs to fulfill future production expansion needs. The Plant is projected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026.

Following the progress update, Chun Yang International and MTA engaged in discussions on technical details, operational models, and exchanged views on potential collaboration frameworks. Both parties agreed that the widespread adoption of electric vehicles has become an industry consensus. By leveraging the compliant qualifications and technological advantages of the “Hong Kong’s First EV Battery Processing Plant,” Chun Yang International and MTA are expected to achieve in-depth co-operation in the areas of battery recycling and information sharing, to jointly promote the green transformation and sustainable development of the industry.

Ms. Kwok Ho Yee, the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Envision Greenwise and Managing Director of Chun Yang International, emphasised that the Plant is a brand-new practice to promote circular economy and green transport in Hong Kong. Committed to an open and collaborative approach, Chun Yang International will continue to partner with industry stakeholders to build a sustainable future through concerted efforts.
