Chun Yang International Receives High Industry Acclaim

May 8

2026

The “Hong Kong’s First EV Battery Processing Plant,” constructed and operated by Chun Yang International (HK) Company Limited, has recently garnered significant recognition from leading industry authorities. As this green facility—featuring the city’s first intelligent production line for Lithium Battery Black Mass—prepares for its official launch, it marks the beginning of a new chapter for “New Industrialisation” and the circular economy in Hong Kong.

Honored with the “New Industrialisation Award” by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers(HKIE)

At the recent HKIE Manufacturing, Industrial & Systems (MIS) Division Annual Dinner and Award Ceremony, the facility was honored with the prestigious “New Industrialisation Award” at the HKIE MIS Industry Award 2025/26. This accolade recognizes the project’s innovative use of cutting-edge automation to efficiently transform end-of-life batteries into high-value strategic resources, such as “Black Mass.” This practice effectively embeds a circular economy model into Hong Kong’s modern industrial landscape.

High Commendation from The Hong Kong Industrialist: Breaking the Recycling Deadlock

In addition, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) highlighted the facility’s significance in its authoritative publication, The Hong Kong Industrialist. The FHKI leadership hailed the project as a “key force in breaking the deadlock of local waste battery processing.” The article noted that due to a historical lack of industrial-scale facilities, spent batteries were previously treated as chemical waste and exported, yielding negligible economic value. With the facility slated to be fully operational at the EcoPark in Tuen Mun by the first half of 2026, this situation is set for a fundamental transformation.Synergy: “Front-end in HK, Back-end in Guangdong”

The report further emphasized an ideal collaborative model: leveraging Hong Kong’s status as an international hub for collection and physical dismantling while utilizing Mainland’s industrial scale for chemical refining. By converting batteries into “Black Mass” in Hong Kong and refining them into battery-grade materials in the Mainland, the “front-end in HK, back-end in Guangdong” approach perfects the resource circularity loop and overcomes local land constraints.

Commitment to a Green Future

“Chun Yang International is deeply honored to receive such high levels of recognition and trust from the industry,” said Ms. Shirley Kwok, Managing Director of Chun Yang International. “We are committed to ensuring the highly efficient and stable operation of our production lines. Chun Yang International will continue to lead through technological breakthroughs, empowering sustainable development and injecting powerful momentum into the low-carbon transformation of the GBA and the world.”
